LOL Can't even begin to imagine the reaction if the V2 addon rolling stock and routes is not backward compatiable with V3.Ĭombine that with no route editor or the ability not be able to mod content and a posible upgrade of your computer for the new engine and I'm struggling to see as to whether it will be a worthwhile investment. As good as Run8 is, Version 3 is just around the corner. Having said that, at this point, unless you plan on upgrading your system and have a few extra bucks laying around, I would hold off. And, as stated, there no creating/manipulation/editing any of the Run8 components.

Run8 control panel has a few basic video controls, but customers have no control over its built in 3d settings through Windows or, for example, the NVidia control panel. A good graphics card helps processing renders, but the biggest appreciable difference in how the sim looks is achieved with a 4k monitor with a 4k video card. You won't get the extreme stuttering/pauses like MSTS variations when taxed, but frame rates can be low with older computer builds. Go all in with all the pay-ware routes & rollingstock and heavily populating the routes with trains/consists, the CPU/memory starts getting taxed. Out of the box, it will run fine on the slimmest 660. You will not be disappointed if you are looking for realistic physics in a train sim.As a train simulator, nothing compares to Run8. I am a bit surprised they haven't released the first V2 upgrade yet but the longer wait means more and better upgrades to the sim so I'm patiently waiting for what ever goodness comes our way when it is released. Yes, a lot of bugs get fixed but they always incorporate new goodies, often suggested by users in the forums and it always improves the sim. When they do upgrades, they are not just updates to fix bugs.

It's just hard to understand where your train is going if you are new to the route or haven't spent much time on it. Also, Brad is correct in that Mohawk and Selkirk still work.

You will still have to install the upgrade when it's available even if you wait. There is no reason to wait for the purchases. You just have to follow the instructions for installing them (found in the "User Guide" folder of the main Run 8 V2 program folder) and letting V2 convert them over to V2 programming. All of the routes on the routes page are V1 routes that will still work in V2. Thanks for responding!V1 is no longer available, that is why you only see V2. I would wait until the fix is already out, makes it a whole lot easier to do it all in once without "patches". so that should be already included in V2 correct?
